Learn about the Bulldog
Britain's most beloved couch philosopher
Today's Bulldog was bred from the older bull-baiting dog after cruel blood sports were banned, slowly becoming heavier, shorter and more of a pet. In our family tree, its ancestors include the Old English Bulldog, the Mastiff and the Pug. It later helped make the Bull Terrier, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and their relatives.
