The Greyhound is the refined British expression of a much older coursing tradition built around eyesight, speed and open-ground pursuit. In this reconstruction it descends from Celtic hound stock with older eastern sighthound influence. Its blood runs through a remarkable number of later hounds, terriers, lurchers and racing dogs.
